Oregon's Best-Kept River Bar Gets a Brand Campaign — The Cazadero x Fallon x KeyBank

When Fallon Agency reached out to hire me for a brand photography campaign, I was in. When they told me the subject was The Cazadero — a Northwest grill and bar overlooking the Clackamas River selected by KeyBank to highlight an Oregon small business — I was even more in.

The Cazadero is the kind of place that earns its reputation through pure character. The sign out front read "Congrats Mofos" the day I arrived, which told me everything I needed to know about the vibe before I even walked through the door. It's a local institution — unpretentious, warm, deeply rooted in its place along the river — and that personality came through in every frame.

The dining room was a dream to photograph. Floor-to-ceiling windows running the full length of the space overlook dense Pacific Northwest forest and the Clackamas River below, with just enough moody, overcast light filtering through to make everything feel cinematic. A single plate of food placed on a table by those windows — with the river misting in the background and a glimpse of the old bridge through the trees — was one of the best food shots I've taken in a setting this naturally beautiful.

In the kitchen, the chef brought the same easy confidence to every frame. Whether he was layering a steak salad with feta, red onion, pumpkin seeds, and cherry tomatoes, or sliding a finished plate through the pass with a grin, he was completely at home. The owner stepped in too, holding that signature dish in her Cazadero t-shirt with the kind of smile that comes from genuinely loving what you've built. Portrait, kitchen action, and food all in one — that's the trifecta for restaurant brand content.

And the steak. I should mention the steak. Grilled, sliced, laid over a bed of greens in those gorgeous dark-rimmed bowls — it photographed exactly as well as it tasted, which is saying something.

Shooting a campaign like this one — where the client is a beloved local business, the agency brief is strong, and the location is this inherently beautiful — is the kind of work that reminds me why restaurant and brand photography is one of my favorite things to do. Authentic places with real stories behind them make for the best content every time.
